Solar energy deals in South Carolina

South Carolina is positioning itself to become a Southern leader in clean, renewable energy production. Charlotte Business Journal reports that SCE&G has reached a deal to put $37 million into building up its solar energy production by 2021. It will focus in part on small producers who would like to sell their solar-generated electricity back to the company.

The announcement comes on the heels of a similar agreement by Duke Energy in South Carolina to invest heavily in solar energy.
