What’s behind anti-Southern attacks?

There are many opportunists who have switched sides in the on-going War Against the South. South Carolina’s Chamber-of-Commerce-Republican Governor Nikki Haley immediately springs to mind. As long as the US media was not focused intensely on targeting Southern heritage she went along with the large majority of her White Southern supporters who favored keeping the Confederate flag and other iconic and historic symbols. As soon as the political climate changed, so too did Haley’s position. And she has gained notoriety within her party for her new anti-Southern positions.

Others, such as anti-Southern hate groups like SPLC and NAACP remain militantly against Southern interests across the board despite the news cycle. What are we to make of the efforts of those (such as anti-White extremist Heidi Beirich) who constantly agitate against our cultural, historical and religious interests?

Manuel Ochsenreiter‘s article for Radix Journal explains:

Destroying cultural, historical, religious and national heritage is an effective way to create a fait accompli on the geopolitical battleground. The purpose of those “measures of war” is to cut the enemy population off from their historical, cultural, and religious collective bonds and identities.

  1. Simple fact. The North lost the war, because they lost the peace. As long as Dixie could assert her independence in 1861-65, she was winning the war. So long as the Southern people continue to
    assert their Southerness, they’re winning the peace. The Southern people have resisted the North so long as they have retained the means to do so. The Yankees aim to reverse the humiliation of their overwhelming spiritual defeat and get back the soul they sold for “victory.”

    As an aside. Last night’s Cowboy victory over the Giants has produced a despair and self flagellation that would not occur, if the other team had been from one the old “Union” States. It’s as if the whole of the Northeast has suffered some kind of metaphysical defeat. As an aside to an aside; The sports casters always root for the Northern teams.

  2. The Left are the same way. Constantly trying to overcome the vacuity of their souls. Hence the constant social justice campaigning. They naturally gravitate towards the Puritanism/Quakerism of the Northern culture and cause. They’re kindred spirits and ideological siblings.

    We can see it in ancient Hindu terms ; that every idea is a life like all other life forms, and that it, too, can rise, fall, die, and be reborn.

    The path of that entire process is competition with other ideas, or intellectual warfare, if you will.

    Our idea of an integral community (not joined to the whole of humanity); our idea that race does have a role, among other things; and, indeed, our idea that life cannot and ought not be lived out on an exclusively individualist level, are all, at this time in history, ideas whose stocks are at low ebb – maybe even on life support.

    Even the religious idea, in Western Civilization, is in a bear market.

    Maybe those few of us clinging to this are at our own funeral wakes and yet, do not realize it.

    Still, in in any case, all we can do is be true to our perceptions, and continue to advocate what we feel is true.

    Obviously you must know what a terrible time it is to advocate the ideas we, each in our own way, do.

    As my wife says : ‘Junius, people don’t give a rat’s ass anymore. They go to work, come home, and don’t want to be bothered with anything else other than their pleasures.’


    • Yes, these are difficult times. But more people care than our small audience. I encounter support in real life all the time. We need to do a much better job in getting out our message in an appealing, effective manner.


  4. Whenever I go into town, I always encounter Southern communal spirit. I carry on conversations with strangers in stores as if they’re close friends and family. I stand around and visit with the cashier and other customers for a little bit, before leaving the little store I trade at. The warm feelings of community are obvious and even taken for granted. I feel this even from the Alabamians, Mississippians, Arkansans and Missourians who are in town for the sale barn, buying and selling cattle. The occasional sour face beneath a Boston Red Sox cap, or the strangely staring man in a car with Illinois plates, makes a stark contrast with our community. They’re strangers, not a part of our national family. Which is what community is.

    Well yes – that is certainly how it is, here, in my small town of 2,800 in Northeastern North Carolina – BUT, that ‘southern communal spirit, as alive as it is, brimming with hospitality, consideration, smiles and respectfulness, is very much ‘undertoe’ if you mean by that a conscious political will as a national people – and the implications of that.

    Now and then, I bring up this matter (I am the only one who does so) at the churches my wife and I attend, and, whilst people seem to feel ‘very southron’, yet, that is absolutely subordinated to their feelings of ‘being American’.

    People, here, are very quick to complain of ‘unconstitutionalism’ and a ‘backwards slide to Sodom & Gomorrah in our lifetime’- but, rarely do they cross the bridge from that thought, to the only thing which can remedy that.

    In fact, here, I am the only one, of the many I have come to know, who thinks remotely like we, here, do.

    People are often downright shockt by my views, and, generally, I think, regard me as a lost confederate out of time and mind:)))


  6. Sir, with regards to your thought’ we need to get the message out in an attractive way’ – of course this is right, because our message, at least as far as my neck of the woods, is very definitely NOT ‘out’.

    That said, even when I do ‘get the message out, elegantly and cogently, people are not at all prepared conceptually for it.

    So, I think our problem is more critical than just a lack of effective dissemination.

    Now, I am only speaking for Northeastern NC … BUT – this is a very very ‘southern’ and ‘Christian’ and ‘conservative’ place – as much as as any part of The South – unlike much of the rest of my ‘state’ – and it is this part of the state which has done the most to put the most conservative state government in power, of all state governments presently in office.

    Really, I don’t know what the answer is. I think people, on the whole, are very apathetick, complacent, and unconsequential in their community thinking – in fact, I think communal thinking, as I have mentioned, yesterday, is much less here, than it was when I was a tyke.

    Anyway, take that for what it is worth.

    I dislike being grim, Sir, but, I dislike more being unjustifiably optimistick:))))


    • I do not know precisely what the answer is either, JD. But it is clear to me that we haven’t really made a serious and professional campaign of our ideas. We haven’t taken them to our people as Evangelicals, for instance, have taken their religion. We have acted as though ours are heretical and anti-social views and, no surprise, we have attracted some bizarre figures who have hurt our image. We have approached things as if ours was a purely political or educational problem. There is much we can do.


      • Thank you, Sir – for your thoughtful comment, and, as well, pertinent criticism. Obviously I do not spend 1/100th the time thinking about these issues that you do.

        I do agree that there is much to be done, and much that can be done, and am hoping that is will be done.

        The national situation is deteriorating, step by step, as if in the clutches of an old and steely Boa. It does not take a diviner to see where this is headed, over the coming decades, is an effective opposition to it, is not put together.

        I was raised in a fairly free and decent society. These days, it is much less free and much less decent. I does not bode well for my children’s children. Sadly, we and my parent’s generation, have avoided doing the necessary work, and, thus, we are leaving them square behind the 8-ball.


  7. I’ve said this before. But I believe it comes down to reminding the Southern people of who they are. The ideas of Southern Nationalism are already in the minds of a great many Southrons. They’re just not being articulated very well. But they show through in the teachings of our parents and in unspoken attitudes towards certain things and people. A great many also need to hear and know that they’re not alone in their thoughts. A great many more have to be weaned off of Northern opinion and approval.

    On my previous statement about Southern Communal Spirit. It’s there. It’s articulated. But it’s taken for granted. It’s who and what we are. That’s why it’s not appreciated vis á vis Northern culture. The material is there. It just has to be shaped and formed.
